Terms and Conditions

1. Entrants must be resident in the UK. Employees of Hyndburn Borough Council, their families, agencies, associates, printers or anyone professionally connected with the promotion are excluded.

2. To claim their prize, entrants must send in their winning voucher with a utilities bill to: Hyndburn Borough Council Click to Win Offer, PO Box No. 590, Preston, Lancs, PR5 6XU.

3. Promotion closes 31/01/08. All prize claims must be received by 08/02/08.

4. There is a choice between one ‘Nintendo Wii’ OR one ‘ipod Touch’ on offer for the top performing pupil in each school. The best performing pupil in each school shall be the person who achieves the highest amount of ACTIVATED vouchers. In the event of a tie break, the best performing pupil shall be selected by that person who got their most recent activation by the earliest date and time.

5. All pupils who achieve five activated vouchers will be entered into a prize draw to win a Nintendo Wii. There are two Nintendo Wiis on offer at each school. Every voucher activated over five shall also constitute one entry into the draw. The prize draw shall be held at the end of the promotion in April 2008. Strictly no cash alternatives.

6. Once a claim is made it cannot be changed or amended.
7. Only original High School Recycling Challenge vouchers will be accepted. Prize claims are subject to an independent security check. Prizes will be dispatched within twenty eight (28) days of receipt of a winning number in accordance with the above procedure, subject to availability.

8. No responsibility is accepted for prize winner’s claims that are lost, damaged or delayed in the post. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt or of prize entitlement. No responsibility is accepted for any incomplete, ineligible entries (which may be disqualified at the promoter’s discretion) or entries which fail to arrive by the specified closing date.

9. All goods will be dispatched via carrier and will require a signature as proof of delivery.

10. It is deemed that all prize winners grant a licence to the promoter to use all names and photographs for publicity purposes or other material in relation to the promotion.

11. By entering the promotion entrants agree to be bound by these rules and by the decisions of the promoter that are final in all matters relating to the competition. No correspondence will be entered into.

12. Entries must not be sent in through agents or third parties. Any such entries will be invalid. Only one entry per person per envelope will be accepted. All entries must be received by 31/01/08. Winners will be notified in writing within twenty eight (28) days.

13. A list of the major prize winners will be available after 28/02/08. Send a S.A.E. to: High School Recycling Challenge, PO Box 590, Preston PR5 6XU and please mark the envelope ‘Winners’ after this date. The winning names will also be available after 28/02/08 by clicking on the ‘winners’ button at www.highschoolchallenge.co.uk

14. Schools are entitled to claim a free keyboard when they have achieved the equivalent of one activated voucher per pupil, i.e. a school with 1000 pupils must have 1000 activated vouchers before they can claim their keyboard.

15. The highest performing school is calculated based on a combination of the highest number of visitors ranking and the highest number of visitors as a ratio to pupils ranking. In the event of a tie the highest number of visitors as a ratio to pupils would be the outright winner.

16. Only one voucher activation per household is permitted, and only one activation per email address. All winning entries will be double checked for bona fide addresses, and entrants must be 18 or over.

17. All items are subject to availability.

18. Participating schools must nominate a member of staff who will administer the scheme in accordance with these terms and conditions.

19. Hyndburn Borough Council cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged applications. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of delivery.

20. Hyndburn Borough Council shall not be liable for any damage, claim or costs, however incurred, arising from this promotion, or from the failure of schools to follow the instructions and guidelines set out.

21. Force Majeure: Hyndburn Borough Council will not be liable for failure or delay in delivery or performance of their obligations under these terms and conditions due to any unforeseen cause beyond their reasonable control.

22. Where Hyndburn Borough Council believes that there has been a breach of terms and conditions, they will refuse to process any such claims.

24. In the event of circumstances beyond its control, the promoter reserves the right to vary the conditions of the scheme at any time.


25. These terms and conditions and any claim placed hereunder shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with English law subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

26. Through taking part in this promotion, all participants (from both voucher book registration and individual voucher activations) consent to further communication through email for information related to the High School Recycling Challenge for the duration of the promotion. Participants will however have the opportunity to unsubscribe from any further communications by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any email.

27. Upon activating a voucher for the promotion, all residents give consent for further communications by telephone, post and email for any related communications by Hyndburn Council. Details can be removed from the database by writing to High School Recycling Challenge, PO Box 590, Preston, PR5 6XU, or unsubscribe from the emailing list by selecting the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email.
